Black Sheep Designs, my garment label and business name, now covers a multitude of interests. Handknitting, machine-knitting, design work, handspinning, dyeing, crochet, even writing books and making greetings cards. You name it... I've probably tried it. My workshop is full of craft tools and supplies, half-finished projects and design ideas that never quite came to fruition. Botched, bothered and bewildered am I and my projects, more than frequently...
I realise that life is inevitably limited in its span. None of us knows when the Grim Reaper will say "Come on, time's up, game's over..." - and I've already had one close encounter of the near-death kind that I wouldn't care to repeat. Yes, I believe in an afterlife. But will there be wool and dyes and spinning wheels??!!
Please don't write to lecture me. It's all been done before. I KNOW I should focus down on one craft or field of activity. I KNOW I am trying too much, too hard, too often... And I KNOW I can't possibly do/try/finish all the things I would like, not if I outlive Methuselah.
But I do love a challenge...
Anyway, I thought I would explain more about this essential part of my life in more detail, for anyone who cares to read about it. I suggest you read Beginnings first.
